What does acidic versus alkaline mean for soil?

March 17, 2025 by

It’s important to choose the right soil for planting shrubs, flowers, or garden beds. Soil with a pH number less than 7 is acidic, while 7 and above is alkaline. Azaleas, rhodies, camellias, and blueberries love acidic soil. A pH between 6.0 to 7.0 tends to work well for most home gardens.
