Poinsettias seem to magically appear during the holidays. Where are they from?

Poinsettias are native to Mexico. They first made their appearance in the United States in 1825 when the first U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Joel Poinsett, sent a clipping of one of these beautiful plants to his home in South Carolina.
